Ophthalmology Night

On November 8, 2018 at 5:30pm in TBT0019 at the University of Ottawa, two Ophthalmologists, Dr. Robert Chevrier and Dr. Kashif Baig spoke about their careers, education, schedules and answered our questions regarding their profession! It was informative, fun, and we had free pizza!

Dr. Robert  L. Chevrier, MD, FRCSC, CSPQ

 

Dr. Chevrier is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Ottawa, and former Chief of Ophthalmology at the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa, where he specializes in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment surgery. He completed his medical degree at the University of Ottawa, his post-graduate medical education at Queen’s University, and a fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of Montreal. He has authored or co-authored several articles that have appeared in the peer-reviewed literature, and has a special interest in optic nerve head imaging. He sits on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, and is a corresponding member of the Ophthalmology Examination Board for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Kashif Baig

​

Dr. Baig is a Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgeon providing tertiary-level care at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute. He currently serves as the President of the Canadian Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery Society. Dr. Baig an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, Pediatric Cornea Consultant at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Clinical Investigator in Regenerative Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and Director of Clinical and Research Fellowships in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery. He completed his medical and residency training at McGill University in Montreal, Master of Business Administration Degree (specializing in Health Services Management) at McMaster University in Hamilton, and Fellowship training in the United States. Dr. Baig has a strong interest in the development and implementation of surgical innovations in corneal and anterior segment surgery.
